From 650 MB CD-R To 400 GB Bluray

Pioneer announced that they have developed a 16 layered BluRay-disk. With this technology the BluRay-disk has the storage-capability of 400 GB. These disks will be readable by the BluRay-players that are available at today’s market. The disk, which will be “read-only“, will be available on the market 2010 at the latest and the writeable edition will be released sometime between 2010 and 2012.
In my opinion, this disk is completly useless untill the actual writing speed of the BluRay-burners gets acceptable.
